Jai Sriman Narayana !!
The great epic Mahabharath was composed by Maharishi Veda
Vyasa/Krishna Dwaipayana, son of Sage Parasara and Sathyavati, a woman from
fishermen clan. Mahabharath describes
the legend of Bharatha Dynasty. It
was written in 18 Parva such as Adhi Parva, Sabha Parva, Vana Parva, Virada
Parva, Udhyoga Parva, Bhishma Parva, Drona Parva, Karna Parva, Shalya Parva,
Soupthika Parva, Stri Parva, Shanthi Parva, Anushasana Parva, Ashwamedha Parva,
Ashramavasika Parva, Musala Parva, Mahaprasthanika Parva and Swargarohana Parva
and each Parva has divided into many Upaparva and has chapters in detail. Adhi Parva depicts the life of King
Dushyantha and his wife Shakunthala and their son Sarvadhamanan, who was
famously known as Bharatha, a righteous ruler of Bharatha Empior.
Lord Brahma created deities, Sages and Prajapathis. It was the beginning of the growth of human
race from the sixty daughters of Daksha Prajapathi. Pururavass,
Yayathi, Puru, Dushyantha, Bharatha, Shanthanu were born in the family
of Dithi, one of the daughters of Daksha Prajapathi.
King Janamejaya, son of
King Pareekshit conducted a grand Yagna to please serpent Gods. There were a huge number of Rishis &
Sages were present in the magnificent Yagna, Maharishi Veda Vyasa along with
his disciple Rishi Vaishampayana and Sage Ugrasrava Sauti was also amongst
them. Rishi Vaishampayana narrated the
stories of Kuru Dynasty to King Janamejaya at the time of Naga Yagna. Later, this anecdote was described to the
Sages and Rishis assembled in Naimisharanya by Sage Sauti, son of Sage
Romaharshana/Lomaharshana, disciple of Maharishi Veda Vyasa.
Rishi Vaishampayana
narrated, Kauravas and Pandavas left
Pramankoti, the incredible recreational palace constructed on the banks of
river Ganga. Group of children mounted
on elephants, horses and royal vehicles, Duryodhana heard Pandavas talking
about the absence of Bhima, he overjoyed at heart thinking about the horrifying
fate of Bhima. Pandavas were over
concerned about the sudden absence of Bhima from their group; they comforted
themselves that Bhima might have left early to Hasthinapur. All the children entered the city of
Hasthinapur without Bhima.
Yudhishtira anxiously
approached his mother Kunthi and revealed the news about abrupt missing of
Bhima from the group and his inability to find him nowhere in the woodland and
garden, he was extremely worried about Bhima.
Yudhishtira revealed his anxiety about any unfortunate incident might
have happened to Bhima. Kunthi agonizingly
shrieked at Yuhishtira and others to search for him. Kunthi called for Vidura and explained that
all the children have returned from Pramankoti except Bhima after water
sporting. Kunthi fretfully remembered
the enmity between Duryodhana and Bhima.
Kunthi wept bitterly, affirmed that the Kauravas are dishonest, spiteful,
thoughtless and arrogant must have done harm to Bhima, they must have exterminated
Bhima in a state of anger. Vidura comforted
Kunthi that all the children of Kurus will be long lived as predicted by the
Sages; he advised Kunthi to protect her children from the wicked Duryodhana and
returned to his abode. Kunthi and her
children spent the remaining days in utter shock and grief, mourning over the
missing of dearest Bhima.
In the meantime, on the
eighth day Bhima woke up from his sound sleep with a strong sense of
mightiness, all the serpents surrounded him were cheering upon the enormous power
and strength Bhima had attained due to the consumption of nectar vessels which
provided him the mightiness of ten thousands of elephant, in other sense none
of the Earth could overpower Bhima in the battle. Nagas advised Bhima to take a holy bath and
return home at the earliest, where his family is distressed about his
missing. Bhima undertook ablutions,
attired in a white robe, adorned white flower garlands around his neck and graciously
accepted the Paramannam (rice, Sugar, milk) offered by the Nagas. Later, Bhima dressed up in royal attire, adorned
with all those fabulous ornaments prepared to leave the Naga Loka. Nagas blessed the mighty warrior of Kuru race;
Bhima greeted them back with courteousness and returned from the nether region. Nagas accompanied Bhima to Earth, the place
where he was sporting with the other children in Pramankoti and after placing
him safely in the garden, they vanished from his very sight.
Bhima rushed to his mother
Kunthi, prostrated before her and elder brothers. All of them were surprised to see Bhima
alive. Kunthi embraced her son in a
state of bliss, dearest brothers cuddled on each other and they were jubilant
at the return of mighty Bhima. Bhima
explained to his brothers about the horrifying incident happened and the fraudulence
of Duryodhana, he spoke about bounteousness of the Naga King Vasuki. Yudhishtira advised his brothers to remain
calm about this unfortunate incident and remain protected in each other’s company. This incident prompted the Pandavas to remain
more vigilant and protected in their group.
Vidura offered sagely advice to the righteous children of Pritha and
enhanced their energy level.
Duryodhana’s viciousness
against Bhima continued, once again repeated the betrayal. Duryodhana tried to feed Bhima with a virulent
poison. Yuyutsu, son of Drutharashtra
born in a Vaishya woman has a special fondness and respect towards Pandavas for
their uprightness, Yuyutsu understood the mischievousness of Duryodhana and was
duly informed to Pandavas. Vrukodhar
Bhima consumed the deadly poison and remained untouched. Duryodhana was never worn out, he along with
his maternal uncle Shakuni and Karna formed numerous devious plans to annihilate
Pandavas, but it was overthrown with the judicious advice of Vidura.
King Dhrutharahstra realized
that the princes are grown haughty and idle.
Sage Kripacharya was appointed as the preceptor of the princes of Kuru
race to learn Veda Sastra & Astra Sastra.
