Rishis & Sages,
The legend has that at the time
of deluge all the deities and sages approached Lord Shiva and prayed to protect
the living beings on the Earth. Lord
Shiva instructed Sage Durvassa to construct a pond at this sacred place and
worship Lord. Sage Durvassa and a group
of sages sincerely followed the austerities and worshipped Lord. Lord was pleased at the devotion of Sage Durvassa
and the sages; the brimming sea water was crammed into the pond. Thus, the living beings on the Earth were
saved by a mysterious power of Lord Shiva.
This temple remains open from
6.30 AM to 11.30 AM in the morning and 5.00PM to 7.00PM in the evenings.
