mother was lived under the safe custody of his maternal uncle, a great poet
Irumpidarthalaiyar on this sacred temple for eight years. King Karinkala Chozha’s father was deceitfully
murdered by his relatives with a selfish motive to confiscate their Kingdom. In this mission the enemies were tried to
harm Karinkala Chozha who was next heir to the throne and his mother, but it
was turned out unfruitful. Karinkla
Chozha’s maternal uncle cleverly saved them from the hands of the enemies and
provided shelter in this temple.
Thiru
Paravai Nachiyar revealed her earnest desire to celebrate Panguni Uthiram
festival at Thiruvanur to her husband Thiru Sundaramurti Nayanar. Sundarar was helpless; he was having no funds
to provide her. He dejectedly arrived
at Thiruppukalur, solemnly prayed to Lord and sung praising the glories of
Lord. On that night, the brick he was
kept as pillow under his head was turned into Gold. Sundarar was in an ecstasy preceded to
Thiruppannaiyur. In this sacred temple
Lord Shiva revealed his cosmic dance to Sundarar. Sundarar’s joy has no bound; in a state of
bliss he sung praising the glories of Lord Soundaranathar.

temple remains open from 6.30 AM to 9.00AM in the morning and 5.00 PM to 7.00PM
