Amavasya/ no moon day is
considered as most propitious for performing homage to ancestors who holds
mystic powers and have absolute authority on our lives. Performances of special rituals to please the
ancestors/Pitrus on the auspicious days of Mauni Amavasya, Mahalaya Amavasya,
Thai Amavasya, Somavati Amavasya, Shani Amavasya, Diwali Amavasya provides
commendable virtues.
Mauni Amavasya is observed during
the time of the planet sun and moon settles in Capricorn, the day Swayambuva
Manu/Progenitors of humans was created by Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma was created Sanaka, Sananda, Sanatana
and Sanathkumara followed by Eleven Rudras,
Saptha Rishis, and Manus. On this
day of Mauni Amavasya, performance of
homage to ancestors, abstain from sensual pleasures and worship of Supreme of
Lord would bring spiritual enlightenment salvation to the worshipper.
Mahalaya Amavasya is the last day
of Mahalaya Pitru Paksha.
Thai Amavasaya in the Tamil month
Thai is propitious for the performance of oblations; it would purify mind and
soul and provides abundance of devoutness.
Somavati Amavasya fall on Mondays
are equally promising to perform austerities and pay homage to ancestors that would
eradicate grief and illness. Ablation
in Holy River provides salvation to the worshipper; fasting and veneration of Peepal
tree will provide longevity and happiness.
Shani Amavasaya fall on Saturdays
are propitious to worship Lord Shaneeswara/Lord Saturn. Worship of Lord Shani and performance of
homage to ancestors on this day would eradicate ill effects of the changes in
the planetary position.
Diwali Amavasya /Lakshmi Puja bring
commendable merits to the worshipper.
