Thirukkaruvur Thirvanilai/Karur
is one of the 275 Thevara Shivasthalam of Lord Shiva located in Karur, Tamil
Nadu. This is one of the prominent
temples of Lord Shiva built by Emperor Muchukundha. In this temple Lord Shiva worshipped in the
form a self-manifested Linga which represents Lord Brahma on the bottom, Lord
Vishnu and Lord Shiva on the middle and upper part respectively.
Presiding deity - Sri Satgunanathar/ Kalyana Pasupathinathar/Anilayappar
/Pasupatheeswarar with his consort Goddess Sri Sarvanga Nayaki/Sundaravalli/Alangaranayaki. In this temple Goddess Sri Sundaravalli is
worshipped as the personification of Kriya Shakthi and Goddess Sri Alangaravalli
as Gnana Shakthi.
