Thirukayilayam/ Thirunodithanmalai/Mount Kailash/The Precious Mountain in Tibet is one of the Thevara Shivasthalam of Lord Shiva located in the highest peak of Himalayas, Manasarovar Lake, Tibet, Chaina.  This peak is the manifestation of Moun Meru/Sumeru, the center point or the axis of the Universe, the tip in which the entire cosmos spins around.
 
Mount Kailash is the marvelous and most powerful place on Earth for the spiritual seekers, so it is one of the most significant pilgrim places for Hindus and other religions, visit to this holy Abode of Lord Shiva would provide highly meritorious rewards.  It is believed that the visit to this sacred abode of Lord Shiva is capable to eradicate all the sins committed and holy dip in the icy blue waters of Lake Manasarovar located at the base of Mount Kailash removes the sins committed in the innumerable births of an individual.

Significances:
Thirunodithanmalai Mount Kailash is the Abode of Lord Shiva, one of the Trinities who perform the function as destroyer (Nodithal), hence this sacred place has got the name Thirunodithanmalai is unapproachable for the deities to worship.

The demon King Ravana, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva struggled to seize the Mount Kailash and got trampled beneath the mountain due to the single squash of Lord’s thumb of foot.  Shortly Ravana realized his folly, worshipped Lord Shiva and attained innumerable boons.
 
Thirunavukkarasar, one of the prominent Shivaite saint arrived at Mount Kailash with an earnest desire to witness the enthralling form of Lord Shiva with his consort Goddess Sri Parvati.  Thirunavukkarasar remained motionless with severe wounds due to arduous journey followed by poor health and old age.  The compassionate Lord appeared before Thirunavukkarasar and instructed him to have holy dip in the pond situated here that would take him to Thiruvaiyaru and provide the visual of Lord Shiva at Thiruvaiyaru, one of the Thevara Shivasthalam located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu.
 
Thiru Sundaramurthi Nayanar and Thiru Cheraman Peruman Nayanar, famous Shivaite saints reached the Abode of Lord Shiva on celestial vehicles Airavatha and horse respectively and the compassionate Lord transformed them as part of Ganas of Lord.
