Skandhashramam is one of the
prominent Ashram established by Sadguru Srimad Santhananda Swamigal, located in
Rajakilpakam, Selaiyur, Thambaram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This Ashram houses magnificent idols of various
gods and goddesses those are present in different majestic halls embellished
with stunning murals. It has spacious
flower garden all around the shrines, Yagasala, Annadhanasala etc…
Deities – Lord Kamala Siddhi
Vinayaka - The golden colored idol of 6 1/2 ft of Lord Kamala Siddhi Vinayaka seated on lotus and the four hands carrying flower, Mango, Sugarcane and Parasu.
Panchamukha Heramba Ganapathi - One of 32 forms of Lord Ganesha with five elephant faces carrying noose, goad, garland of Rudraksha, Axe, pownder and rope. This splendid 12ft statue of Panchamukha Heramba Ganapathi is the embodiment of Lord Maha Ganapathi, Sidddhi Ganapathi, Shakthi Ganapathi, Vidhya Ganpathi and Moksha Ganapathi.
Lord Dattathreya - The embodiment of Trinities Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva and the provider of Devotion as well as Salvation. This idol of Lord Dattathreya is 15ft tall .
Lord Panchamukha Anjaneya - The idol of Lord Anjaneya with 14ft height has five faces illustrates Lord Anjaneya facing East, Lord Narasimha facing South, Garudalwar facing West , Varaha facing North and Hyagreevah on the top. Worship of Lord Panchamukha Anjaneya provides Courage, eradicates fear from enemies, physical well being, prosperity and Wisdom.
Lord Shaneeshwara - The 14ft idol of Lord Shaneeswara with his celestial vehicle crow and various forms of Lord Shaneeswara installed around the deity.
Lord Ayyappa - Sri Dharmasastha, protector of righteousness and destroyer of evil, son of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu (Mohini). The 7ft idol of Lord Ayyappa, one hand denotes the Gnanmudra/Wisdom and the other hand as Varamudra.
Goddess Sri Ashtadasa Buja Durga Parameswari - The embodiment of Goddess Maha Shakthi, her 18 hands carrying malicious weapons of various forms . This idol is 6'ft tall idol of Goddess Sri Durga Parameswari with her celestial vehicle lion, grace the devotees with ultimate benevolence.
Sadguru Santhananda Swamigal - One of the prominent seers who bestowed peace and compassion to his devotees, established Skandhashram and also built Judgeswamigal Adishtanam at Pudukottai, Skandhashram at Selam and Dattagiri at Sendamangalam. In this Ashram the idol of Sadguru with the height of 41/2ft made of marble is installed next to Goddess Sri Bhuvaneswari.
Lord Sarabeswara - Lord Veera Sarabeswara a fierce of form of Lord Shiva to bring peace in Lord Narasimha after vanquishing the demon Hiranyakashipu. The 12ft idol has the form of half-beast and half-bird, each wings holding Goddess Prathyangira and Goddess Soolini gracefully. The four hands holding the weapons, Axe, deer, snake and fire. Ashta Bhairavas such as Achithanga Bhairavar, Ruru, Chanda, Krodhana, Kapala, Unmatha, Beeshana, Samhara and Swarnakarshana are installed around the Lord.
Goddess Prathyangira Devi - The 12ft Panchaloha image of Goddess Sri Ugra Prathyangira, a fierce from of Mother of the Universe, lion faced seated on a lion, four hands carrying noose, trident, drum and Kapalam is surrounded by Navadurgas such as Shrishailaputri, Brhmacharini, Chandrakantha, Kushmanda, Skandhamatha, Karthyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri and Siddhitharthi.
Goddess Sri Bhuvaneswari - 6'ft stone idol of Mother of the Universe Goddess Lalitha Tripurasundari/Srividhya surrounded by Dasamahavidhyas/Rajamathangi such as Goddess Varahi, Goddess Kali, Goddess Thara, Goddess Shodashi, Goddess Tripurabhairavi, Goddess Cinnamastha, Goddess Dhumavathi, Goddess Bagalamukhi, Goddess Kamalathmika.
Lord Swaminathaswamy/Skandha - The magnificent idol of Lord Swaminathaswamy facing the Mother of the Universe Goddess Bhuvaneswari is 12ft tall.
Sudarsana Chakrathalwar & Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar : The18'ft idol of Sri Maha Sudarsana Murthy and Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar stands charmingly and the hall is embellished with the exquisite paintings from Dasavathar.
Sahasralingamurthi - A colossal form of Linga of 91/2ft made of stone which has 1007 lingas carved on it. The 5' ft idol of Lord Nandikeshwara facing the sanctum of Lord.
Sri Maha Meru - Personification of Goddess Sri Adi Shakthi, a 51/2ft Sri Chakra Poorna Maha Meru made of Panchaloha.
