Thiruthevur is one of the 275 Thevara Shivasthalam of Lord Shiva located in Shivanur, Nagapattinam District, Tamil Nadu.  This is one of the prominent temples of Lord Shiva built by the King Ko-Chengan Chozha.
 
Presiding deity – Thiru Devagurunathar/Devapureeswarar/Kadhalinvaneswarar with his consort Goddess Sri Madhurabashini/Thenmozhiammai
 
Mangalasasanam – Thiru Gnana Sambandhar
 
Sthalavruksham – Palantain/Venvazhai/Kalvazhai   
 
Theertham – Deva Theertham
 
Worshipped by – Deities and Sage Bruhaspathi, Sage Gouthama & Ahalya, Lord Kubera, Lord Indra, Lord Surya,
 
Ravana conquered his brother Lord Kubera and confiscated the greatest of the treasures (Sankhanidhi/Padmanidhi is the vessels containing the elixir of nectar).  Hence Kubera lost his glories and the honor Lord of wealth.  He arrived on this sacred land and underwent severe austerities worshipping Lord Devapureeswarar with red lotuses.  Lord was pleased at the devotion of Kubera and blessed him with lost glories and the title Lord of Wealth.
 
Lord Indra vanquished the demon Vruthasura and afflicted with the sin.  Eventually Lord Indra lost his glories and Kingdom.  He underwent austerities worshipping Lord Devapureeswarar on this sacred land and regained his Kingdom and highest of the title Lord Indra.

Worship of Lord Devapureeswarar with his consort Goddess Sri Madhurabashini/Thenmozhiammai provides abundances of pieties includes perpetual prosperity and virtuous offspring.
 
This temple remains open from 6.30 AM to 11.30 AM in the morning and 4.30PM to 7.30PM in the evenings.
