The legend has that Lord Shiva was implying the chronicles of Veda to Goddess Sri Parvati, she lost her attentiveness to the specified subject.  Further, Lord was enraged and cursed her to be born as a cow on Earth.  Goddess Sri Parvati took the form of divine cow Kamadhenu arrived on this sacred land, plunged her horns on the ground and elevated the Linga from underneath the ground, due to the strong thrust disfigured the upper portion of the Linga and the blood started oozing out of it.  The divine cow Kamadhenu worshipped the Linga by shuddering milk on it.    Lord Shiva was pleased at the devotion of Kamadhenu and appeared before her, instantly Goddess Sri Parvati regained her enchanting form and reunited with the Lord.
