Thiru

on his way. He was disheartened to see
the Linga without performing any rituals; he delightfully commenced the worship
of the same. Soon he found that there
was nothing he could offer to Lord, other than small pebbles as an alternate
for flowers to the Linga. The people witnessed
were sarcastically passed comments on him; he continued his sincere worship of the
Linga on daily basis. He made a practice

pot was floated for some time on this sacred land. Hence, this place has got its name Thirukalayanallur
