The
legend has that the Pandavas were exiled from their Kingdom Hasthinapur and wandered
through the woodlands. Arjuna undertook
spiritual journey and visited many sacred temples of Lord Shiva. He arrived on this sacred land and underwent
severe austerities praying to Lord Shiva.
Lord was pleased at the devotion of Arjuna and appeared before him as a
hunter with his consort. Hence, the
place has got its name Thiruvettakkudi.
This
temple remains open from 6.30 PM to 12.00 PM in the morning and 4.00PM to
8.00PM in the evenings.
