Sage Durvasa and lost all his glories and wealth. Once, Lord Indra was pompously
riding on his Royal elephant Irathava. Sage Durvasa met Lord Indra on his way and
offered a splendid flower garland which was used for the worship of Goddess Sri
Mahalakshmi. Lord Indra accepted the garland
callously and placed it on the elephant Iravatha carelessly. Unluckily the garland was flipped away by the
elephant and trampled with its foot.
Sage Durvasa felt humiliated and cursed Lord Indra to lose his glories
and wealth. Later, the deities and
demons decided to churn the milky ocean to recover the lost glories and
powers. While churning was in progress Goddess
Srimahalakshmi emerged out of the ocean and blissfully took her seat on the
chest of Lord Sriman Narayana. Lord
Indra arrived on this sacred land to worship Lord Narayana after regaining his
glories & wealth and got Dharshan of Lord.
