Sage
Lomaharshana describes the glorious 18 Puranas composed by Maharishi Krishna
Dwaipayana Veda Vyasa to the Sages assembled and the devoutness achieved by donating
the same in an auspicious day.
Brahma
Puranam - It was originally recited by Lord Brahma to Marichi and it has
thirteen thousand verses. Donating the
holy script on the Pournami day in the month of Vishakha brings abundance of
pieties.
Padma
Puranam - It has 55,000 verses donating the same in the month Jeyashta brings
abundance of merit.
Vishnu
Puranam – It was recited by Parasara Bhattar and it has 23,000 verses and
donating the same in the month of Ashada brings abundance of religious fervor.
Vayu
Puranam - It was recited by Lord Vayu
and it has 24,000 verses and donating the same in the month of Shravan brings
abundance of devoutness.
Srimad
Bagavada Puranam - It has 18,000 verses recited by Krishna Dwaipayana Veda Vyasa
and donating the same on a Pournami day in the month of Bhadrapad brings
abundance of piousness.
Narada
Puranam - It was recited by Maharishi Narada and it has 25,000 verses, donating
the same in the night of an Amavasaya in the month of Ashwin brings abundance
of merits.
Markandeya
Puranam - It has 9,000 verses and donating the same in the month of
Margashirsha brings abundance of religious fervor.
Agni
Puranam - It was recited by Lord Agni to Sage Vashista. It has 16,000 verses
donating the same in the month of Margashirsha brings abundance of devoutness.
Bhavishya
Puranam - Lord Brahma recited Bhavishya Purnam and it contains 14,500 verses. This Purana describes about 'Bhavishya' /'The
Future'. Donating the same on a Pournami day of Poushya month is treated as the
most auspicious deed.

Vaivarta Puranam - It was recited by Savarni Manu to Sage Narada and it has
18,000 verses, donating the same on a Pournami
day in the month of Makam treated as highly auspicious.
Linga
Puranam - It was recited by Lord Brahma and it has 11,000 verses, donating the
same in the month of Phalguna brings abundance of merits.
Varaha
Puranam - It was recited by Lord Vishnu to Earth and it has 24,000 verses,
donating the same in the month of Chaitra brings abundance of devoutness.
Skanda
Puranam - It was recited by Lord Karthikeya/Skanda and it has 81,000 verses,
donating the same in the month of Chaithra brings plenty of merits.
Vamana
Puranam - It was recited by Lord Brahma and it has 10,000 verses, donating the
same in the month of Sharad brings abundance of pieties.
Kurma
Puranam – It was recited by Lord Vishnu and it has 18,000 verses, donating the
same at the time of equinoxes brings plenty of devoutness.
Matsya
Puranam – It was recited by Lord Vishnu to Manu and it has 14,000 verses,
donating the same at the time of equinoxes brings abundance of pieties. It
describes the importance of different Vratas /austerities and states the
grandeur of Prayag (Allahabad)
Garuda
Puranam - It was recited by Lord
Krishna and it has 18,000 verses
Brahmanda
Puranam - It was recited by Lord Brahma and it has 12,200 verses.
