Significance of Uma Maheshwara Vratham !!

Uma Maheshwara Vratham is one of Ashtamavrathas (Skandha Puranam) observed in the full moon day in the month of Karthikai, provides abundance of meritorious reward.  On this day, performance of austerities with utmost faith, in the early morning hours, abstain from sensual pleasure and fasting, veneration of the idol of Lord Uma Maheshwara made of gold or silver, offerings of flowers, fruits, fragrant wood, etc… and donate the idol of Lord Uma Maheshwara to a zealous devotee.  Whoever observes the austerities of Uma Maheshwara Vratham would be blessed with fulfillment of desires eventually attains the abode of Lord Shiva.

Singnificance:

 
Lord Brahma attained Goddess Sri Gayathri & Sri Savithri as his consorts
Sage Dhiranabhindhu attained eye sight
Lord Krishna underwent severe austerities and worshiped Lord Uma Maheshwara and begot many offspring
 Sage Vashishta attained Kamadhenu/Surabhi for his Yagna purposes

Sage Gauthama attained virtuous son Sadhanantha
Rajarishi Janaka attained Goddess Sita as his daughter
A chaste woman sincerely followed the austerities of Uma Maheshwara Vratham and got her dead husband back into life.  In due course of time, she gave birth to a child and eventually attained the abode of Lord Shiva.
Sudharman an un intellect was made fun as a dumb by the people, underwent austerities with intense devotion and attained supreme knowledge with the grace of Goddess Sri Saraswathy, later he became one of the renowned scholar.
King Sindhusena was exiled from his Kingdom, underwent austerities of Uma Maheshwara Vratham at the divine instruction of Sage Agasthya.  Lord Kubera won back the Kingdom after a fierce battle at the instruction of Lord Uma Maheshwara and handed over the Kingdom to King Sindhusena.
